Flint Hills Scientific, L.L.C. (FHS) is a development-stage company
that has technologies and advancements related to portable or implantable
intelligent medical devices (therapeutic or diagnostic/monitoring) and
related software, firmware and hardware. As part of its core technology,
the company has generated novel and proprietary algorithms for the analysis
of biological signals and has applied them to develop solutions to
important problems in the Life Sciences and others. Through its
multi-disciplinary approach, FHS continues to develop and deliver rapid,
practical, and cost-effective solutions to address many important unmet
medical needs.
One of these algorithms (U.S. Patent #5,995,868) has established FHS as the
world's leader in real-time detection and quantification of epileptic seizures and is being used in the
development of an intelligent medical device for the automated detection,
warning and control of epileptic seizures in collaboration with a global
medical device company. This device is expected to revolutionize the treatment of epilepsy by enabling for the first time the automated
delivery of a therapy only when and where it is needed.
FHS is now focused on incorporating its expertise in complex biological signal detection and
quantitative analysis, portable/implantable medical device development, and
automated, intelligent, and closed-loop therapy into other fields within the
life sciences. Currently FHS is targeting other neurologically-related
disorders (e.g., movement disorders and pain), diabetes (glycemic state
monitoring and control), cardiac signal detection and monitoring, vagal nerve
stimulation, vulnerable plaque detection, and mammographic image analysis.
